October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Western Academy of Beijing's Tiger volleyball teams are inviting you to join them for support!
On Friday, October 13, come to WAB's HUB Gym and root on the girls' and boys' Tiger volleyball teams as they face-off in matches against ISB.
"Despite their competitive nature on the court, our student-athletes realize that their love for the sport can be a conduit for a bigger purpose," WAB's Head Volleyball Coach Caleb Liu said. "We are proud they are cooperating to raise money for such a worthy cause, and we're excited to invite our shared communities to take part."
The girls' match will start at 5pm on Friday, and the boys will play immediately after. Fans will be treated to live music from student bands during the games, an intermission magic show from Andy Lou, and lots more entertainment throughout the evening. Admission is a 20 RMB donation.
Friday's Charity Games will be hosted by The Winning Streak, a student-run group at WAB which focuses on sports and event promotion. In collaboration with their counterparts at ISB, this is the first in a series of events that will take place in the 2017-18 school year to raise money for cancer research.
All money raised from ticket sales and contributions to this event will be donated to Coaches vs. Cancer, a part of the American Cancer Society that empowers coaches, athletes and communities to support the fight against cancer.
