On Saturday April 22nd, WAB hosted the U.12 Boys Basketball ISAC Tournament. WAB entered the tournament with a twenty member strong squad who have all improved their game throughout the season.
Game one saw WAB off to a slow start against a much larger Harrow team. The boys began to gain momentum, playing together offensively and learning how to help each other defensively. Unfortunately the clock wasn't on our side and we ended up starting off with a tough loss. (WAB 13, HBJ 17)
Game two saw the boys wake up and bounce back with a commanding control of the game against Tianjin.
(WAB 16, TIS 10)
The third game of the morning proved that the entire WAB squad could hold their own. Many players came off the bench to take a commanding win over BCIS (WAB 21, BCIS 14)
Game four would determine the team entering the playoffs. WAB faced Dulwich who had defeated the boys earlier in the week. While the final score is close, WAB controlled the game from start to finish and a strong defensive showing by the boys shut down Dulwich's offensive star.
WAB entered the playoffs facing the undefeated team from Pool B, BIBA. Facing a tough offensive WAB stayed in the game fighting back to tie it all up with three seconds on the clock. With WAB careful not to foul, BIBA inbounded the ball effectively and threw up a shot that landed on target just as the final buzzer sounded. (WAB 16, BIBA 18)
Playing in the final for third or fourth place WAB again faced Harrow who proved to be too much earlier in the day. Sensing that the much larger team was growing tired, WAB ran the court and away with the win crowning WAB third place champions on the day.
