For the second weekend in a row, the WAB Tigers participated in a basketball tournament, this time as host to APAC rivals ISB, SAS Pudong, and AIS Guangzhou. Coming off a come from behind win in the finals at the Great Wall Shootout, the Tigers entered with confidence. Against ISB, WAB continued to use their athleticism and defense to get out to a fast start. ISB fought back and kept the game close throughout, but WAB would not relinquish the lead, and WAB won a well contested game 40-34. Up next was the feisty AISG girls. Known for their quick hands and swarming defense, AISG showed the kind of tenacity that WAB showed the week before. This time, the WAB girls were caught off guard and fell behind early. Even though the team fought back to keep the game competitive, AISG's lead proved to much to overcome. The next day, the highly favored SAS Pudong team showed why they are the team to beat in APAC. Their size, speed, skill, and experience are tough combinations to beat, and WAB did not match up well. This second loss led to a rematch with ISB in the 3/4 game, and once again, an inspired WAB team would not let their crosstown rival have the day in WAB's home court. Another well earned win garnered 3rd place hardware for the girls, and set the season record with ISB at 3-1. The Tigers will meet ISB at least 3 more times (and possibly 5), next at the Coaches v. Cancer Classic, and then again at ACAMIS and APAC.
